Texas National Guard shooters shot the first Phase of the Chief, National Guard Bureau match in December of 02. The shooters shot the Combat Rifle and Combat Pistol match. Once the results were posted, Texas Finished Second in Combat Pistol and Fourth in Combat Rifle in the Nation. Since the shooters did so well, they have been invited to shoot Phase III. The Top Six teams in the Nation will shoot Phase III, which will be shot at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock Arkansas. The match will be put on by the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center. This match will be a shoulder to shoulder match and Texas will go up against the top shooters and teams in the Nation.
